UseUp (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the UseUp mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate the Service:

• Photos — images you capture or upload of food items, ingredients, or receipts (e.g., for barcode scanning, expiration date capture, or ingredient identification) so the app can identify what you have and generate relevant recipes.
• Speech/voice data — if you use voice input within the app, your audio is sent to Apple's speech recognition service to convert your speech to text. We do not retain raw audio recordings ourselves beyond what is needed to process your request in the moment.
• Ingredient data — text and data describing the ingredients you have on hand (whether typed, scanned, or transcribed from voice) is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate recipe suggestions.
• Account data — information such as your email address, authentication details, and app preferences, which we store using Supabase, our backend database provider.
• Purchase data — subscription and purchase information (e.g., subscription tier, renewal status, transaction identifiers) processed and stored via RevenueCat, our subscription management provider.

We do not collect payment card numbers or government IDs directly — these are handled by Apple's App Store and RevenueCat.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Identify ingredients from your photos and generate personalized recipes.
• Process voice input so you can interact with the app hands-free.
• Maintain your account and sync your data across sessions.
• Manage your subscription, process purchases, and provide customer support related to billing.
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.

We will never sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

We share limited information with the following third-party service providers, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

• Google (Gemini API) — ingredient data you provide is sent to Gemini to generate recipe content. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Supabase — stores your account information and app data. See Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
• RevenueCat — manages and stores subscription and purchase status. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
• Resend — for transactional and marketing email delivery, where applicable. Resend's privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
• Vercel — for website hosting and infrastructure. Usage data and server logs may be processed by Vercel.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. Photos and ingredient data submitted for recipe generation are processed to fulfill your request and are not retained longer than necessary to provide the Service. Purchase and subscription records are retained as required for billing, tax, and legal compliance. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 6).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data.
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
• Opt-out — opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in any email.

7. Cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze traffic and improve your experience. These include:

• Essential cookies — required for the website to function correctly.

8. Security

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will promptly delete it.
